Tony Cairoli, the nine-time World Champion who together with Alessandro Lupino is leading the development of the Ducati Desmo450 MX, has chosen the new Powerstage RR for his e-Bike training.

Motocross is one of the most physically demanding motorsports in the world, where preparation matters as much as talent in the outcome. This is why the best motocross riders use a Mountain Bike, and an e-Bike specifically, to improve their condition.

The main advantage is naturally the improvement in cardiovascular fitness, also increasing resistance over long distances, which are both essential to allow a rider to maintain high concentration and clarity for the entire duration of the race. Additionally, cycling also helps develop leg strength, which is crucial for stability and control when riding a motorcycle.

In this regard, a pedal-assisted bike is also of great advantage, because it allows you to pedal at even more constant heart rates, even in the presence of significant differences in altitude, conducting longer training sessions and it gives you the possibility of alternating cool-down sessions.

Cairoli and his preparation
Antonio Cairoli won the first race of the Ponte a Egola round of the Italian Motocross Pro-Prestige Championship, held a few weeks ago in prohibitive surface conditions, thus demonstrating his level of physical preparation. The nine-time World Champion trains by bicycle, mainly on mountain bikes. His choice was a Ducati Powerstage RR, the full carbon e-enduro model introduced last year in the Ducati range.

Tony Cairoli, Ducati Corse R&D – Factory MX Team Factory Pilot:“Motocross is an extremely physical discipline, which requires athletic preparation at the highest levels based on strength and a lot of resistance. The bicycle therefore represents the perfect training. A large part of my winter preparation consists of mountain bike training. I chose an enduro model because in addition to training by pedalling, it also allows me to tackle particularly technical trails and practice my riding technique. On a mountain bike, as on a motorbike, you need to know how to choose the right trajectories, constantly correct the balance of the vehicle and body posture, control the braking, making quick decisions and automating many movements. The bike allows you to go step by step and try new things by gradually intensifying the speed of execution, so as to acquire better control and confidence which is also useful on a motorbike.”

Cairoli’s bicycle
The  limited-edition Powerstage RR is the first e-enduro with a carbon fibre frame from Ducati, a concentration of technology and advanced components with class-leading performance.
The Shimano EP801 motor with 85Nm of torque, the Öhlins suspension, the carbon rims, the powerful Braking brakes and the 12-speed SRAM electronic gearbox guarantee the maximum level of performance on the most extreme enduro routes.
The special livery designed by Aldo Drudi, in collaboration with the Centro Stile Ducati, inspired by the official team’s Desmosedici, enhances the unique character of this model produced in just 230 numbered examples.
