It is with great pleasure that the Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team confirm that Manuel Gonzalez will stay on for the 2023 Moto2 World Championship. Gonzalez joined the Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team for its Moto2 World Championship debut this year. Though a Moto2 rookie himself, he impressed with his adaptability, mature mind, and speed. Highlights so far this season included his top-5 finishes in the Portuguese and Australian GP.
Previous key achievements in the 20-year-old‘s career were obtained in the WorldSBK paddock, where he gained valuable racing experience in various classes ahead of his switch to MotoGP. Gonzalez became the youngest ever WorldSSP300 title winner in 2019 and moved up to the WorldSSP class the following year. The Spaniard again showed incredible consistency in 2020, never finishing outside the top 10 on his way to seventh overall in the championship. In 2021, Manugasss became a Yamaha Motor Europe N.V. bLU cRU rider and did even better by securing third overall with seven podiums, including two race wins before starting his a new adventure in Moto2.
